Depression Introspection
Depression is often characterized as being just “sad” or “lonely”, but it’s so much more than that.
Depression is also in the things like letting dishes pile up because even pushing a button feels like too much, looking for food but not eating bc you’re not that hungry anyways and food is work (and the subsequent guilt that comes with that), looking outside and wanting to be involved in the world but knowing you’d be zapped of energy (emotional, interpersonal, and physical) the moment you step outside, and some days doing nothing but stare at the wall or a phone and hating how unproductive you are but what’s there to do anyways?
Those kinds of things are often overlooked when people hear depression. In my latest ongoing series, I want to capture the parts of depression people don’t typically talk about. It’s time to end the stigma around mental health.
